For us, there's no more exciting time in the coffee world than the holiday season. Not only is it a chance to slow down and connect with friends and family, it's also the perfect opportunity to indulge in some of our favorite treats, made even better with their good company.
If you're planning on hosting sometime this season, we can't recommend this espresso martini recipe enough. We love it for any scenario: a cozy date night, when the in-laws visit, Friendsgiving, etc., because it gives you a chance to wow any kind of crowd without much effort or need to turn on an oven to worryingly check every 10 minutes. Tell you one thing, I will leave the macaron making to the pros. Never again.
This particular recipe is brought to us by NYC-based Cocktail Enthusiast and Amateur Home Bartender Alex Miller.
It's an easy, yet elevated take on the classic Espresso Martini that "uses fresh espresso, Kahlúa, and some Whitney Neill gin, which adds beautiful floral and bright herbal notes to the cocktail," he tells us. "The overall mix is bold and boozy but has a delicious smoothness and sweetness that really makes this a treat, and the combo of quality gin and coffee is absolutely spectacular."
Trust us, this is one of those secret weapon cocktail recipes that your guests will be asking for by the end of the night.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz gin
- 1 oz freshly brewed espresso (make it however you do normally at home!)
- 1 oz Kahlúa
- 1 dehydrated citrus wheel
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
Instructions:
Brew fresh espresso and set aside to cool
In a cocktail shaker add gin, Kahlúa, and ice
Give it a good hard shake to get the liqueur nice and frothy
Strain into a coupe glass
Add rosemary and dehydrated citrus wheel to garnish**
Alternatively, add three fresh coffee beans for a more traditional finishing touch.
